To the editor:
In a recent article, a writer advocated a ban on plastic bags, on the basis that they can be swallowed by whales and other marine and land mammals. This simply cannot happen in our area!
Many residents use them to collect pet and other waste, all of which, and unused bags, go into the weekly trash collection.
And all that trash goes into the Lee County incinerator, which converts them into energy! None go into any landfill! What could be more ideal than that?
Since plastic bags are also the most-convenient and least-costly method of carrying our purchases, I am opposed to any action which would deprive us from using them! Let's "nip that in the bud!"
