Gloria B. Allaire

Gloria B. Allaire, 90, of Plano, TX, formerly of Sanibel, FL, passed away on Wednesday, February 15, 2017. She was born on January 11, 1927, in Greenwich, Connecticut, to the late John William and Mary Katherine (Bliss) Burke. Gloria was a graduate of Greenwich High School.

Gloria enjoyed moving around the country with her husband, throughout her life, living in New Orleans, Oak Ridge, TN, Idaho Falls, ID, Louisville, KY, Buffalo, NY, Sparta, NJ and Sanibel, FL. She started the Gourmet Club in Sparta, New Jersey. Gloria spent time volunteering at Newton Memorial Hospital in Newton, New Jersey and at Sanibel Public Library in Sanibel Island, Florida. She enjoyed playing golf with the Nifty Niners in Sanibel Island, Florida. Gloria was an excellent bridge player and was a part of many bridge clubs, even up until recently. She will be remembered for being a good party organizer for friends and family and a gourmet cook. She also enjoyed traveling internationally and domestically with her husband of 65 years and she had a great love for all types of music. She will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved her.

In addition to her parents, Gloria was preceded in death by her husband in 2015, Walter F. Allaire; and son, Christopher Allaire. She is survived by her children, Walter F. "Rick" (Linda) Allaire, Jr. of Dallas, Texas, Holly Patricia Allaire (Linda Burdette) of Richardson, Texas, and Timothy F. (Sue) Allaire of Stow, Massachusetts; daughter-in-law, Leslie Allaire of Sandy, Utah; five grandchildren, Michelle (Jeremy), Kyle, Alexandra, Matthew, Mark; two great-grandchlidren, Ava and Brett; and sisters, Patricia Roddy of Greenwich, Connecticut and Gwen Laughlin of Cos Cob, Connecticut.

A Celebration of Life and burial, will be held at a later date at The Chapel By the Sea in Sanibel/Captiva Island, Florida. In lieu of flowers, donations, in memory of her husband, should be made to the Fisher Center for Alzheimer's Research foundations @ Alzinfo.org.
