Harold Dagner Gleitz, 84, of Sanibel, Florida died on Wednesday, Nov. 9, 2016 at his home following a courageous battle with cancer. He was born in Erie, Pennsylvania to Dr. and Mrs. A.A. Gleitz and grew up largely in Jacksonville, NC. Harry earned a Bachelor's degree from the University of North Carolina, and later, a JD from University of Maryland. After serving in the United States Navy, he worked for 32 years as an analyst for the Department of Defense where he received the Meritorious Civilian Award. During this time, Harry lived in Annapolis, Maryland and was active in local theatres. Harry retired to Sanibel where he volunteered at the Koreshan Site, Ding Darling, Habitat for Humanity, and SCCF.
Harry is survived by his wife, Mona; his daughter, Gayle Luckenbaugh and her husband, Gary and their children Mary Beth and Chris; his son, Peter Gleitz and his wife, Kira, and their children Harrison and Sabrina; and his brother David.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Memorial contributions can be made to the American Cancer Society or SCCF.
